The audience listening to author, Cate Kennedy at WPF Literary Lunch, was totally captivated by her stories and approach to storytelling. Cate shared her insights into listening to people, feeling what people feel and putting stories of real people into words to be shared by many others. Her insights, her warmth and engagement were enthralling.
Cate was welcomed by Alice Oppen, WPF Chair, who shared her personal response to Cate’s writing citing Cate’s ability to capture the internal voices of vulnerable people. Alice explained WPF’s advocacy linking reproductive health, gender equity, community wellbeing and sustainability through provision of family planning, which has great immediate and cumulative benefits. WPF aims at the most fundamental change, bringing women into decision-making.
The success of the event – a sell-out audience at Woollahra Sailing Club on a warm sunny April day – promises that this will not be WPF’s only literary lunch.
